Shooting for composites is very different from “normal” photography. It’s not about capturing the perfect single image; it’s about collecting building blocks you can reuse again and again to create unique artworks.

• When I first began making composites with my own photography, I thought I could just pick a favourite shot and create. Instead, I discovered that most of my photos weren’t suited for composites — the angles, lighting, or clutter just didn’t work. I had to learn through a lot of trial and error.

• That’s why I’m passionate about teaching this step. Understanding how to shoot and prepare photos specifically for composites saves so much frustration and opens up a whole new world of creativity.
