Organised… but can't find anything?
This session came from something I kept hearing. While teaching, people would ask how I organise my creative stash after watching me work. Not because it looked neat — but because it made sense and I could actually find things. Then an engineer emailed to say he found my filing system logical enough to use in his own workflow. That's when I knew it was worth teaching properly.
Most tutorials on organising creative assets are built for photographers. If you're working with composites, textures, overlays, and a growing stash of creative assets— that advice doesn't translate. The systems don't match how you actually think when you're creating.
When you're deep in a project, you don't want to make decisions about where something might be. You want to go straight to it. That's what a well-structured stash does — it removes friction at exactly the moment you need to be creative.
The problem is, most of us build a system when our stash is small, and never revisit it as our work grows. Until one day, finding anything feels harder than it should.
I've been there. And as someone who's spent years teaching in corporate environments, I understand that we don't all think the same way — or retrieve information the same way. There's no one-size-fits-all system, and I'm not going to pretend there is.
In this session I'll show you how I approach my own setup, walk you through the thinking behind it, and give you practical ideas you can adapt to how your brain works. The doing is up to you. So you can spend less time searching — and more time creating.
What we will cover:
Why creative asset organisation is a different problem to photography organisation
How to build a structure around retrieval, not just tidiness
The mistakes that seem logical but make things harder over time
How to future-proof your system as your stash and your skills grow
I'll be demonstrating in Lightroom — but this isn't a Lightroom class. The principles work regardless of what you use.
