SCULPTING LIGHT using Photoshop, Nik Collection

"Don’t just add light—sculpt it with care and imagination." - Unknown

Light is one of the most powerful storytelling tools in digital art and creative photography — and learning how to craft it can transform your work from ordinary to extraordinary.

In this 90-minute online session, you'll discover different ways to add and sculpt light using Photoshop and the Nik Collection. We'll explore how to plan light with intention, the types of light to consider, and techniques for creating mood, depth, and focus in your images.

Whether you're creating digital composites or conceptual photography, understanding how to shape light will help you guide the viewer's eye, build atmosphere, and elevate the emotional impact of your work.

What we will cover:

  • How to plan and visualise light to enhance mood, depth, and storytelling

  • Different techniques for adding and sculpting light using Photoshop tools

  • How to use Nik Collection (Viveza and Color Efex Pro) to selectively enhance light and atmosphere

  • Understanding different types of light — soft, hard, directional, ambient — and when to use them

  • Common lighting mistakes to avoid and tips for creating natural, believable light in your creative work
