"Adding Visual Impact" Processing Workshop

Do your images need visual direction to make them “pop”? You know what you want to do, but lack the skills in Photoshop to fix some of those elements of your image?

The first step is about having a “Visual Direction” for an image. When processing my images, I look at the “big picture” and think how I want my image to look. I use different techniques to get the feel or look I am after in an image. Sometimes I will draw from the colour palette I saw or felt, other times it’s a mood I want to create or how creative I feel or an idea I’ve seen.

I would like to share some of the processing techniques I use in Photoshop to give you the tools to help you create an image that can add that “Visual Impact”.

“Adding Visual Impact” is aimed at Photographers who have a basic to intermediate level of understanding of Photoshop and Working with Layers.

  • Have a “vision” in mind before you start processing

  • How to have a “visual plan” before you start processing

  • Working on the elements of an image

    • Getting rid of the distractors

    • Patching up areas such as blown highlights, covering areas in the foreground

    • How to replace a sky in images when the sky didn’t play that day,

    • How to patch parts of the sky that may be blown out,

    • Adding colour when the sky needs a lift

    • Creating a long exposure look to a sky or create a dramatic look

    •  Using motion blur to create a different effect in your images

    • Colour techniques to enhance the colour

    • Using the transform tool to change the look

    • Expanding the canvas to give more space

Sydney Opera House Interior Shoot

Event is now full
Interior 2.jpg

The Sydney Opera House is Australia's most recognizable building and the most photographed icon of Sydney. How can you shoot from a different perspective?

SandraD Imagery would like to offer you the chance to capture the stunning architecture from inside the Opera House. Join me on a guided tour where you can capture the angles and textures of this truly amazing building.

We will be lead by a Sydney Opera House guide to various locations within the Opera House. There may be restrictions to theatres (stage set ups) where we will not be able to take photos as this does not come under the Opera House licensing agreements.

A unique opportunity to capture a Sydney icon.
